Notes
A little help in the kitchen
Lori’s ingredient notes: Chop the onion finely so the sauce is easier to brush or spoon onto food. Stir as it simmers so the sweet sauce does not catch on the bottom.
Make it a meal: Serve with grilled chicken, roasted potatoes, and a cabbage or cucumber salad.
Prep ahead: Make the sauce ahead and refrigerate in a covered container. Set aside a clean serving portion before using any sauce to baste raw meat.
Tomorrow’s lunch: Use some reserved sauce in a cooked-chicken wrap with shredded cabbage. Discard sauce that contacted raw meat instead of putting it back in the clean container.
For every bit of that sauce: An OXO silicone spatula helps stir the barbecue sauce and sweep along the bottom and sides of the pan as it simmers. It also makes scraping the finished sauce into a container easier. That sweet-and-tangy goodness belongs on dinner!
